Mentoring Moments are treasures for your heart

God continues to bless everything in my life to help me become a river not a reservoir. This week I was able to share a cassette recording with my friend that was at the top of a plastic tub of 100’s of cassette tapes that were recorded by my family in ministry throughout their lifetime in ministry. When I say hundreds, I mean hundreds.
Yet when I reluctantly started to sort through my familys’ memories and opened the first tub, this cassette was on top, all by itself, on top of the stack glaring at me as if to say….. PICK ME UP, I’m right here!
Now this particular tub, along with 46 others all filled with family cassette tapes, videos of my grandfather singing, music written, sermon notes and recorded sermons from ministers at revival meetings from 1947-1990, had been moved from Orlando in 2009 to a storage shed, in July 2020 to another storage shed as we sold my grandparents home, to my back garage in 2022, to my home office in 2025.
Why did I open this tub, 1 month ago? Why did I have a spark to start going through all these items now?
Here’s why. This tape was labeled Melvin Maxwell: The message Thus Saith the Lord (I’m not kidding). So after I cried, I went to our media area in the basement and Joe and I played the cassette the message is Melvin preaching on both sides of the cassette in his 47th year in the ministry and was recorded by my great uncle Roy McKinney and Grandfather Paul Qualls.

So this week I presented this to John, (with the help of Chris Robinson Ray Popham Rob Herold Dennis LaRue Jr.) we spent a moment and cried together, took some video and this photo! Thank you Joseph K Ake Andrew Manzano Christian Del Rosario and Mark Cole for helping John keep this keepsake for his heart. I love this team because we care so much for helping to bring value to our mentor, our leader and to each other.
